This website is for Bio 1500 labs taught by Rhett Hartman. Click on the menus to the left to access various info.

You will get to drop your 2 lowest quizzes (1 quiz/week) and your 2 lowest worksheet grades (1 worksheet/week). There will also be 2 presentations during the semester which will be worth the equivalent of a worksheet (you can also drop these presentation grades if necessary).

Class basics:

  • 2 lowest quiz and 2 lowest worksheet grades will be dropped.
  • No make-up quizzes or worksheets or labs.
    • If you are unexpectedly sick or have to miss class, you will be able to drop the quiz or the worksheet from that week.
    • If you know ahead of time that you will miss class, contact another TA (ask me in class, or look on the myzou schedule for other 1500 classes) from another section and ask if you can sit in there class. Email me and the other instructor, and if there is a quiz, I will get it from that instructor. If you turn in a worksheet, you must still turn in your worksheet to me on the due date according to our class schedule.
  • Worksheets will be due at the end of class on the Tuesdays that we meet, according to due dates for worksheets that are on the syllabus.
  • Quizzes will happen at the beginning of class on Tuesdays.
    • Turn in your worksheet by the end of class (1:50 minutes after the beginning of class on Tuesday), or else it will be late.
    • Late papers are penalized 4 points/day, beginning after the end of class.
    • If you put your assignment in my box or email it to me, make sure to talk to me or email me about it -- if I don't email you or tell you in person, then I can't guarantee that it isn't late.
  • Absences:
    • If you know you will be absent, you can find another class to sit in. The other lab classes are listed in myzou.missouri.edu. Or you can ask me and I can help you find a class. The other class must have space for you in order for you to not be penalized.
    • If you miss a class you will not be able to make up the quiz, even if you are able to go to another class.
    • Absences won't be counted until the third week. After that, your first absence will not be penalized. Every absence after that will be -5 points from the worksheet.
  • Clean-up: I will remind you to clean your group's station. Before anyone in your group leaves, check with me to make sure you have cleaned up your area.

Notes:

  • I will write up some notes for each lab (click on the "Labs" links to the left). The most important things to study are what I say in class. The notes are to supplement the lecture.

Office Hours:

Wednesday 9:30-11am I am usually in my office. But these times won't work for everyone. In this case, email me and set up a time or just drop by any other time and see if I'm in my office (room 204 or 207B Tucker).
